But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled,
my steps had nearly slipped.
For I was envious of the arrogant
when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
For they have no pangs until death;
their bodies are fat and sleek.
They are not in trouble as others are;
they are not stricken like the rest of mankind.
(Psalm 73:2-5 ESV)
When was the last time you wished you were richer, happier, better, healthier, smarter, etc than those who do not confess their faith in Jesus or follow Jesus as their Lord and Savior?
Do you wonder often why you seem to face all the challenges and difficulties when all you want to do is to faithfully follow Jesus and obey him?
Have you ever asked yourself where your weariness comes from?
When my soul was embittered,
when I was pricked in heart,
I was brutish and ignorant;
I was like a beast toward you.
(Psalm 73:21-22 ESV)
Ask, “What is my deepest desire?”
If your answer is “Jesus” then do the following:
Get up and go to a place of worship where you can hear God’s word preached and taught clearly, praise God’s attributes and acts, receive God’s grace and mercy in communion and talk to God in prayer.
Belong, participate and serve in a community of believers who confess:
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
(Psalm 73:26 ESV)
