Glorious Things of You Are Spoken

On the holy mount stands the city he founded;
the LORD loves the gates of Zion
more than all the dwelling places of Jacob.
Glorious things of you are spoken,
O city of God. Selah
(Psalm 87:1-3 ESV)

Glorious things of you are spoken.  Who could this be?
Me?
No, the city of God – Zion.
Where is Zion? Is it a city of refuge in a sci-fi movie?
Here are some descriptions from the Bible:

Psalm 46:4
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.

Psalm 48:1-2
Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain, beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, in the far north, in the city of the great king.

Psalm 125:1
Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

Hebrews 12:22
But you have come to Mount Zion and the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering.

1 Peter 2:6
For it stands in Scripture: “Behold, I’m laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.”

Revelation 14:1
Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.

Based upon this short list of passages from the Bible, it refers to Christ and his church.

How many people would say glorious things about your church in your city, town or neighborhood?

How many people would say glorious things about Jesus because of you?
