“Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.”
Why You Are Not Honest
You are not honest because either you want to hide behind the mask of pride or the mask of pity.
On the one hand, you over commit or try to do too much thinking that you are both willing and able to achieve or deliver what people expect from you. You risk your character, family, and community for the sake of proving what you are capable of.
On the other hand, you are overwhelmed by the lack of result you wanted to see and let everyone know how frustrated you are in your attitude, with your words and through your actions.
Humility Leads to Honesty
Taking a sober look at yourself and listening to people who care and love you by speaking truth to you will help you realize you need someone to trust.
Who would you trust in a world where everyone seems to be selling something to you?
You can trust Jesus because he came to speak the truth and fulfill the truth.
You can trust Jesus because he came to die for your sin of selling out on God and his truth.
You can be honest because Jesus is trustworthy. You can be honest because Jesus knows your failures, shame, guilt, and fears. You can be honest because Jesus knows your hopes, dreams, desires, and wants.
Who are you going to be honest with today?
