I got dibs on earth. That is… claiming on the knowledge of how it came to be.
Since no one alive on earth or the dead has been there to witness the beginning of the earth, it’s all about who sounds the smartest and shouts the loudest that gets to influence your take on how the Third Rock from the Sun came to be.
I wasn’t there when the earth came into existence. But we have many inhabitants on earth who are pretty sure how the earth came to be. On the one hand, scientists of all spectrum from their scientific research labs act like they know about the earth’s beginnings. On the other hand, theologians of all shades from their theological ivory towers act like they know how God created the earth. Here’s my take on speaking about The Earth.
Meek and Greet
Regardless of your position or understanding on how the earth came to be. Let’s take heed to what Jesus of Nazareth said about who will inherit the earth in his speech that calls for action.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Jesus called dibs on the earth. Who in his right mind can say things like, “I am the Alpha and the Omega who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty”? So my response to what Jesus said in the Bible is to ask, “Jesus, what do you mean when you say, ‘Blessed are the meek’? “What does it look like for me to be meek when I get annoyed by people who mix driving and texting?” I think it’s time to say, “Hello” to the Holy Spirit and listen to Jesus speaking to me and act on his speech – “Stop honking at the other driver and pray for her to focus on driving.”
